Details

The PHOENIX BJJ rashguard in long sleeve is where this design gets its full run: the phoenix sits across the chest over a fire-textured hem, and red wing feathers sweep the length of both sleeves rather than stopping at the shoulder. The print is sublimated, so the colour sits inside the fibres and will not crack, peel or fade.

Why long sleeves for no-gi?

Because the forearms take the most damage. Every post, shrimp and grip defence drags your arms across the mat, and bare skin loses that exchange over a few hundred rounds. Full sleeves put a smooth layer in between, which is why grapplers who train no-gi daily tend to move to long sleeve and stay there. The 88% polyester, 12% spandex knit stretches four ways so nothing pulls when you invert.

  • Full-length sleeves against mat burn on the forearms and elbows.

  • Red phoenix wing feathers running the length of both sleeves.

  • 88% polyester, 12% spandex compression knit, around 220 GSM.

  • Flatlock seams and a moisture-wicking knit that dries fast between sessions.

Who is it for?

Made for grapplers who want forearm cover and do not want a quiet top. The sleeves are the biggest canvas on a rashguard, and this is the design that uses them: the wings only read properly at full length.

Complete the set

It matches the PHOENIX BJJ shorts and the PHOENIX BJJ spats. Training in a hot room? The same design comes in short sleeve. Explore more jiu jitsu rashguards and no-gi gear.

Can I get it in academy colours?

Yes. Send your academy colours and logo and we rebuild the design around them, with artwork returned for approval before production. The minimum order is 10 pieces and sizes can be mixed.

How do I care for it?

Machine wash cold inside out with like colours and hang dry. Do not iron the print, bleach, or tumble dry on high.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get a short sleeve or long sleeve BJJ rashguard?
Long sleeve if mat burn on your forearms is the problem, short sleeve if heat is. Full sleeves put fabric between your arms and the mat during ground work, which is why most people who train no-gi daily end up preferring them. Short sleeves run cooler and feel less restrictive in a warm academy. Neither is more correct, so pick by the gym you actually train in.
Do I have to wear a rashguard for no-gi?
Most academies require one, and the reason is hygiene as much as comfort. A rashguard keeps your sweat off the mat and off your partner, and it cuts the bare-skin contact that spreads ringworm and staph in a training room. It also stops the mat taking skin off your back and shoulders.
Can I wear a rashguard under my gi?
Yes, and plenty of people do. It stops the gi jacket chafing, wicks sweat away from the skin, and keeps the inside of the gi cleaner between washes. IBJJF gi competition rules on what may be worn under the jacket differ for men and women, so check the current rule book if you plan to compete in it.
Is this rashguard legal for IBJJF no-gi competition?
Do not assume so. IBJJF no-gi rules have required the rashguard to carry a portion of the athlete's rank colour, and those requirements are revised between rule book versions. These designs are not rank-marked, so treat them as training wear and check the current IBJJF rule book for your division before you compete.
How should a BJJ rashguard fit?
Tight enough that it stays flat when a grip pulls on it, loose enough that you can breathe fully. There should be no slack fabric at the waist or armpit for a partner to grab. If you are between sizes and want more room across the chest, size up.
Can I get it in academy colours?
Yes. Every colourway is a starting point rather than a fixed catalogue item. Send your academy colours and logo and we rebuild the design around them, then return artwork for sign-off before production. The minimum is 10 pieces per order and sizes can be mixed freely across the run.
