Details

The GLACIER judo shorts are the navy and cyan version of our judo training short: branching graphics running up from solid cyan hem blocks, with the AUN shield on one thigh and the wordmark on the other. The design is dyed into the fabric rather than printed on top, so it will not crack, peel or fade.

When do judoka actually wear shorts?

Not for randori or contest, where the judogi is the uniform. Shorts are for the rest of the week: warm-ups, uchikomi with bands, strength and conditioning, ne-waza drilling in clubs that run it out of the gi, and the session before and after practice. These are cut for that work, with a soft elastic waistband instead of a rigid closure and a side slit so the knee can travel.

  • No pockets, zips or belt loops, so nothing catches a finger or toe.

  • Side leg slit for full hip and knee range.

  • Soft elastic waistband, comfortable on the ground.

  • Solid cyan hem blocks that read clearly across a dojo.

Can I wear them for a grading or contest?

No. Gradings and IJF contests are fought in a judogi that meets the federation's measurement rules. Treat these as training wear and change into your judogi for randori, gradings and competition.

Who is it for?

Made for judoka whose training week includes real conditioning work, and for clubs who want kit with more colour than the usual navy or black. Also a sensible pair for the gym on non-judo days.

They match the GLACIER judo rashguard and layer over the GLACIER judo spats. Browse more judo shorts and judo gear.

Can we get them in club colours?

Yes. Send your club colours and crest and we rebuild the design around them, with artwork returned for sign-off before production. The minimum is 10 pairs and sizes can be mixed across juniors and seniors.

How do I care for them?

Machine wash cold inside out with like colours and hang dry. Do not iron the print, bleach, or tumble dry on high.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do judoka wear shorts?
Not for randori or contest, where the judogi is the uniform. Shorts come out for everything around that: warm-ups, uchikomi with bands, strength and conditioning, ne-waza drilling in clubs that allow it, and the walk to and from the dojo. Most judoka own a pair for exactly those sessions.
Can I wear these for a judo grading or competition?
No. Judo gradings and IJF contests are fought in a judogi that meets the federation's measurement rules. These are training shorts. Wear them for conditioning and drilling, and change into your judogi for randori, gradings and contest.
Are they suitable for ne-waza drilling?
Yes, if your club runs ne-waza sessions out of the gi. There are no pockets, zips or belt loops for a finger or toe to catch, the waistband is soft elastic rather than a rigid closure, and a side slit lets the knee travel. Check with your coach, since many clubs still want the gi on for groundwork.
Can I wear spats under them?
Yes, and it is a common pairing for groundwork. The spats add leg coverage against mat burn and the shorts go over the top. See the matching judo spats in the same design.
Will the print survive hard training?
Yes. Sublimation dyes the graphics into the polyester rather than laying a print on the surface, so there is nothing to crack or lift when the fabric stretches. The colours hold through repeated washing.
