Details
The RONIN judo rashguard in long sleeve is the piece this design was built around: a sand body with engraved olive wave artwork sweeping the sleeves and torso, an olive collar trim, and the kanji 柔道 printed on the chest. Those two characters read jūdō, literally "the gentle way". The design is sublimated, so the colour sits inside the fibres and will not crack, peel or fade.
Why wear a rashguard under your judogi?
Because the jacket is the problem. A judogi is heavy, stiff cotton, and every broken grip drags that weave across your forearms. A long sleeve base layer puts a smooth surface between your skin and the jacket, which is why judoka reach for one during high-volume gripping and randori. It also wicks sweat away instead of letting a cotton jacket hold it against you.
Full-length sleeves against forearm friction from heavy gi cotton.
The 柔道 kanji on the chest, the only piece in the range that carries it.
Olive collar trim and engraved wave artwork on both sleeves.
88% polyester, 12% spandex compression knit, around 220 GSM.

What does the kanji on the chest say?
It reads 柔道, jūdō. The first character means gentle or yielding and the second means way or path, so together they give the name Jigoro Kano chose for the art: the gentle way. It is printed in olive on the left chest, sized to sit above a judogi lapel rather than be swallowed by it.
Is it legal for IJF competition?
No, and it is worth being clear about that. Under IJF contest rules women wear a plain white or off-white t-shirt or body suit under the jacket, and men wear the judogi against the skin. This is training and randori wear. Check the current IJF rule set before a contest.
Who is it for?
Made for judoka who want a base layer that belongs to their art rather than a generic grappling top. Because it carries the judo kanji, we only make this piece for judo: the rest of the RONIN kit is unmarked and works across disciplines.
