The ORCHID women's BJJ shorts carry the brush work onto the mat: a white base with blue, teal and violet strokes sweeping up both legs from the hem, a soft lilac elastic waistband and a lilac AUN mark on the thigh. The design is dyed into the fabric rather than printed on top, so it will not crack, peel or fade.

What makes these grappling shorts?

What is missing matters as much as what is there. No pockets, no zips and no belt loops, because anything a finger or toe can hook is a hazard in a scramble and most academies will turn it away. The waistband is wide soft elastic with no rigid closure, so nothing presses into your back when you are flat on the ground.

Shorts or spats?

Shorts if you want airflow and freedom at the knee, spats if mat burn down the shins is the problem you are solving. Plenty of women wear the spats underneath and the shorts over the top, which is the standard no-gi look and gives you both. Both are on this page.

Can I get them in academy colours?

Yes. Send your academy colours and logo and we rebuild the brush work around them, with artwork returned for sign-off before production. The minimum is 10 pieces and you can mix pieces and sizes within that.

How do I care for them?

Machine wash cold inside out with like colours and hang dry. Do not iron the print, bleach, or tumble dry on high.

Can I buy the pieces separately?

Yes. Every piece in the set is listed as its own option on this page and you can order any one of them on its own. Most people take the full set because the print only lines up across the pieces, but nothing forces you to.

Is this a women's cut or a unisex piece in small sizes?

A women's cut. Both pieces are built on women's patterns, shaped through the bust and waist on the top and cut on a women's rise on the spats, and they run XXS to XXL on the women's chart rather than a men's size run.

How should the set fit?

Snug everywhere with nothing loose for a partner to grip. The top should not ride up when you raise your arms and the spats should not slide down during a round. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one.

Do I need a sports bra under the rashguard?

Yes, wear your normal training bra under it. A rashguard is a compression layer, not a support garment, and it is not built to replace a bra.

Do the spats go see-through when they stretch?

No. The knit is around 220 GSM, heavy enough to stay opaque through a deep squat or a guard pass, and the print is sublimated into the fibres rather than sitting on top, so it does not thin out where the fabric pulls.

Can we get it in academy colours?

Yes. The tape band carries any two-colour palette, and the wording on it can be changed to your academy name. Send your colours and logo and we return artwork for sign-off before production. The minimum is 10 pieces per order.
